Chapter 10: The Shell and the Glasses
My Specs!
October 2
Those barmy traitors attacked us last tonight. Their attack was almost theological, it seemed as if they were invisible. They came and left like ghosts, silent and invisible. We're not on the best terms, but I didn't know they hated us enough to attack us. Now I'm completely blind, and I'm just guessing that my writing is legible. If they attack again I'm completely vulnerable, and they'll most likely outnumber us.
The forest has been purged of all its wood. There is none left for keeping the fire going. I tried explaining to Ralph that there was no more wood, but that illumination was too difficult for him to understand. Well, I don't think it was all a misunderstanding, I think it was a mixture of both misunderstanding and not wanting to know. I could understand why he doesn't want to know, but he has to face the truth, that the signal fire is no longer an option.
