Test is a short story by Theodore L. Thomas. Here are the answers to the questions my teacher has given us.
(1) Choose a sentence that really stood out to you, or appealed to your senses.
"And they dragged Robert Proctor out the door, knees stiff, feet dragging, his rubber heels sliding along the two grooves worn into the floor". This sentence made me feel paranoid about so many things, and made me not so exited about getting my driver's license. But I did like the way the author left you hanging about what happens to Robert using that last, cleverly designed sentence.
(2) In your opinion, is the method (hypnosis) used in "Test" an appropriate way for the government to see if young drivers are ready for the road? Why or why not?
No, don't think hypnosis is an appropriate way for the government to test young drivers. I think it is stupid, and I would not get my license if I had to go through that. I'm sure that even if you passed the "Test" it would cause you mental and psychological distress. I'm happy I'm not getting my driver's license any time soon!
(3) How could you interpret the statement by the uniformed man in the last paragraph: "How do any of us know?" Share your thoughts on this odd, ironic ending?
I interpreted this sentence as meaning that Robert was just dreaming. I interpreted it this way because you make up your dreams as your sleep progresses (Like Improv). That sentence really makes you think deeply about whether it was a dream or real life, but I think the author ended it like that to keep the reader wondering.

Very succinct response! Seems like many of you like the strangeness of the ending. And, I also like cheese. :) 10/10
