We Almost Caught It!
September 28
We tried to catch the beast today, but it got away. We searched at the castle place. I went first to see if it was safe. Jack followed me though. I think he did that just to prove he wasn't windy... but I still think he is. In order to disguise our scent, we covered ourselves with the brine that we found on the rocks, so the beast couldn't smell us. We stole up on it, but then, we saw its head rise and its eyes glow with so much evil that we ran down the mountain leaving our spears behind. The only problem is now we either have to build new ones, or gather up the courage to go up and get them.
We're always dun! There is always something to worry about: the Beast; the littluns; the signal fire; and sometimes, Jack. I don't think we should have left Piggy with the littluns. He can't keep an eye on all of them! I'm worried that if they go off exploring one of them will drown in one of the moors that I've seen around the island.
I was thinking of starting up a rugger game to bring all the boys together, but then I thought it might just divide the two teams up even more. Besides we don't have a ball.
