To Kill A Mockingbird Post 3 (Chapters: 8-9, Perspective: Scout)

Francis is Stupid
May 11

Francis deserves what’s coming to him! He thought he could insult and degrade Atticus, but now that I told Uncle Jack what he was saying he will get in trouble. I think they should isolate him in his room, because that's what he deserves. Some children are fanatical, and the problem is that the adults and parents never want to listen to both sides of the argument. Uncle Jack told me only to use bad words and to do bad things when “in ex-extreme provocation.” Francis provoked me, and he had no right to insult Atticus. Aunt Alexandra thinks I don’t act like a girl, but what Francis did was not very gentleman like. He was running around acting like a perplexed baboon, not a gentleman!

It's too bad that Ms. Maudie’s house caught on fire. It could have burned down the whole neighborhood if it had spread to our house. We were lucky it didn't, because our house and Ms. Maudie’s house are adjacent to one another. I felt bad at first because everyone was saying the weather was our fault, and because of the weather, her house burnt down. But then I realized it was just another one of the adults' ingenious tricks to get us to behave. I’m glad that Ms. Maudie was not too affected by the loss of her house, because it sounded like she didn’t like it too much anyway.

Me and Jem had a really fun time making our snow and dirt man. It looked just like Mr. Avery, but Atticus didn’t want him to get offended so he made us put a hat on it. I wish Mr. Avery could have a chance to see it, because I would have loved to see his reaction.

I really like how you made Scout seem like this big ol' scary guy even though sh's a young girl. I also like how you put a what if scenerio, because obviously that didnt happen
