Response:

One of my favorite sentences in the book was "You did transport diamonds in the tailpost!" I know its a bit odd, but this was one of my favorite sentences because it really gave me sense of excitement. I think it gave me a sense of excitement because it is the answer to the mystery! I think I would read another book by this author because I like the way Franklin W. Dixon chooses to demonstrate suspense and mystery. I would like to collect more of his books and keep reading them.

A common way that the author creates suspense in this book is by leaving you hanging from chapter to chapter. Another way is by constantly involving things like burglary, kidnapping and attempted murder that definitely add more suspense to the storyline. This book makes me wonder if there are really families like the Hardy's and whether criminals like the ones in this mystery really exist and whether they are so clever. I also wonder how much the crime fighting techniques have changed since this book was originally written.
