Here are the answers to the questions my teacher has given us.
(1) Which part of the story stood out as the saddest part, and why?
I thought the saddest part was at the end when Betty Ann had a nervous breakdown. I thought this because it was not fair that she was treated this way. I also thought that because this part shows you how bullying can have a very negative effect on people.
(2) Was there any point YOU would have said something, when the narrator DID NOT speak up? Why/why not? Or would you have acted like she did?
I don't think I would have said anything when the narrator didn't. I would not have said anything because I would have felt that if I had said anything, instead of the kids listening to me, they would turn on me and make my life more complicated. I know this is not a very nice thing to do but that is how I think most people would react.
(3) Re-read the last paragraph, and then decide: What is the moral or lesson in this story?
I think the moral of the story is "don't judge a book by its cover," which I translate into meaning give people a chance before you judge them. I think the last paragraph fit in perfectly with the subject matter.

Well, I don't really agree with you about how you wouldn't have stood up for Betty Ann because she had a very complicated life way before you would. So I think that you should stand up to Margie and tell her to stop being mean. Well, yea they might turn against me but I don't need all the people in the whole world to be my friend because the person that i will only need in the whole world might be right beside me and I won't even know it.
I agree with Ambar. Because if people ignored you you'd feel that way? Well i'd feel sick and bad. Besides that, I TOTTALLY agree on the sadest part. I sort of did the same thing but we like did it on different parts and we had a different meaning. And i agree with your morel of the story. I think it really sets with the story. Great job on that!

Guliano, i no what you mean, you think that if you said something your friends wouldn't like so instead you would be a bystander.
I doNT agree. because remember at our old elementary school. People treated you like that at times. i think. And you didnt like it and you spoke up.And people stopped. Guliano theres a difference from playing around and being dead serious. Guliano i disagree but i kinda see why you agree. But not totally
