Perspective: Simon Chapter 5: Beast from Water
Jack is mean to everyone, except his hunters. He is a perfect effigy of his hunters. They are all rude, they have no decorum, and are all crazy. They give no respect to anyone but themselves, do not follow the rules of the conch, and even worse, they don't even listen to Ralph! I was surprised that Jack talked back to Ralph at the meeting. I knew Jack was rude, but he took it a step too far. I was also appalled that Ralph didn't say or do anything to Jack. He has the power to banish Jack, and I can't understand why he doesn't use that power.
The boys wouldn't let me speak at the meeting, at all! Even when they asked me questions they would interrupt me before I was even finished answering. Jack is always acting tempestuously, and he always starts the disagreements. I heard the boys copy what I said at the meeting, they spoke jeeringly. I just can't figure out why no one likes me or Piggy.
I can't wait till we get off this island, I'm tired of Jack and his ludicrous hunters,
